2022 Ford F-150 Overview

The 2021 model year was a big one for Ford in that it introduced the fourteenth F-150 generation. The new platform was a big hit that won over consumers and automotive journalists alike. The changes for the 2022 model year are not as drastic, but they are notable. Ford has dropped the diesel engine as an option. It has introduced a new blacked-out appearance package and made refinements to many standard and optional features.

XL Trim

The XL is the first of the 2022 Ford F-150 trim levels, and consumers are often impressed with how this base package compares to work trucks from the other manufacturers. The cabin features cloth upholstery, vinyl flooring, air conditioning and an advanced 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with integrated support for Android and Apple devices. A rearview camera system, forward collision mitigation and lane departure warning are all standard as well. The XL package includes 17-inch steel wheels and trailer sway control with pre-wired connections for a trailer. The base model also provides you access to all of the cab and bed combinations. These include the two-door regular or extended cab with either an 8-foot or 6.5-foot bed or the four-door crew cab with either a 6.5-foot or 5.5-foot bed.

XLT Trim

The 2022 Ford F-150 XLT adds a number of conveniences and creature comforts in order to bridge the gap between the base model and the well-equipped Lariat. The exterior aesthetic is upgraded with a chrome bumper, other chrome accents, fog lamps, 17-inch aluminum wheels, power-adjustable heated side mirrors and a tailgate with a power lock. Cabin updates include color-coordinated carpeting with carpeted floor mats, one-touch power windows, power door locks and more robust front seating with lumbar adjustment. Ford also expands the Co-Pilot360 suite with blind-spot and rear cross-traffic monitoring, lane keeping assist and rear parking sensors with automatic braking.

Lariat Trim

The Lariat may be the most popular F-150 sold and leased at our Ford dealership serving Fairfield Napa St. Helena Petaluma Concord and beyond, and that has much to do with Ford striking a balance between the price point and the technology- and amenity-laden equipment package. It is also notable that the Lariat comes standard with a more powerful V6 engine that makes 325 hp and 400 pound-feet. The Lariat is also a great option for anyone who will tow with their F-150 because it includes the Class IV trailering package as standard equipment. It also adds 18-inch aluminum wheels, LED bed lighting, remote tailgate release and remoter start. Cabin enhancements include leather seating, power front seating with heating and ventilation, zoned auto climate control and a 12-inch touchscreen.

King Ranch Trim

The King Ranch is the first of the luxury-oriented 2022 Ford F-150 trim levels. This particular package is also notable because it adds a more rugged exterior appearance package, including a unique grille, and rustic interior aesthetic. Other notable exterior enhancements include 18-inch King Ranch-specific wheels, two-tone paint treatment, LED projector headlamps with dynamic bending and angular step bars. Cabin upgrades include King Ranch-specific floor mats, a flow-through center console with a stowable floor shifter, a Mesa leather-wrapped steering wheel and premium B&O audio.

Other F-150 Trim Levels

You have a number of other options for the 2022 Ford F-150. These include the Platinum, which is equipped much like the King Ranch but with 20-inch wheels and a more traditional design inside and out. The Limited is the most luxurious and technologically advanced of all the F-150 model. Notable upgrades include special leather seating, massaging front seats, power running boards and 22-inch wheels. Other options include the Tremor and the Raptor, which are off-road models. Both have an off-road-tuned suspension with the Raptor featuring the more sophisticated implementation.
