Ford and Chevrolet take a similar approach in that they offer a regular cab, an extended cab and a crew cab. The regular cabs for the 2023 Ford F-150 and 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 have two doors. The extended cabs have four doors but smaller rear doors, and the crew cabs have four full-size doors and are just larger overall than their extended counterparts. In both cases, you have the option of a standard bed that measures approximately 6.5 feet, a long bed that measures approximately 8 feet and a short bed that measure approximately 5.5 feet. The regular cabs are available with either the standard or long beds. Ford gives you that choice with the extended cab as well, but Chevrolet limits it extended cab to the standard bed. The crew cabs give you the option of the standard and short beds.

Ford F-150 Mechanical specs

Both Ford and Chevrolet offer rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. Rear-wheel drive is standard for the most part, and four-wheel drive is available when that is the case. The exceptions are the off-road trims that include four-wheel drive as standard equipment. Ford offers seven powertrains altogether. There are four available for the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Chevrolet opts for an eight-speed automatic transmission for its base model whereas Ford opts for a 10-speed in all models. The Ford V8 is more powerful. Chevrolet does offer an upgraded V8, but Ford’s turbo V6 outperforms it. Ford also offers a hybrid powertrain, and Chevrolet does not have an equivalent to it.
