2017 Lincoln Continental
You may be familiar with the Lincoln Continental name without knowing what it actually is--the Continental is one of those parts of car culture that has taken on a life of its own. The 2017 Lincoln Continental is a reintroduced version of this legend, replacing the MKS and taking aim at luxury, elegance, and power in an American package.
The exterior of the 2017 Lincoln Continental probably isn't as futuristic or unique as some of its main rivals, but its imposing, handsome lines are also less polarizing than some of the competition. The body of the Lincoln Continental exudes class, finesse, and presence, which is exactly how a full-size luxury sedan like this should feel.
The 2017 Lincoln Continental hits the mark even more with the interior design, and the new car more than lives up to its billing and the legacy of its predecessors. The Continental is aiming for a new brand of luxury buyer, with an interior that is warm and contemporary and full of quality craftsmanship on display. Rich, high-quality materials with a number of unusual touches are found throughout the cabin, such as the Lincoln shield shape on the upholstery inserts. The thoughtfulness of the design and the appeal to luxury buyers takes the Continental to new levels of interior comfort.
One of the areas where the 2017 Continental shines is in the back seat. Dedicated climate and audio controls, reclining heated, cooled and massaging seats, and glare-screening sunshades are other level luxury. The opulent interior is unambiguously designed to pamper passengers, and an air of serenity reigns because of the extensive use of acoustic laminated glass and active noise control technology. The optional panoramic sunroof is vast, and features a front section that slides up and over the rear to deliver fresh air and light to everyone inside and a feeling of spaciousness for those in the rear, especially. This is still a superb vehicle for the driver and the front seat passenger, but rear passengers are being considered as well.
The Premier and Select trims of the 2017 Lincoln Continental come with a 305 horsepower 3.7-liter V-6, where the power goes to the front or all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. An optional engine for the Select trim that's standard with Reserve models is a 2.7-liter GTDI V-6, which then provides an impressive 335 horsepower. There's more if you want it though, in the shape of a 400 horsepower 3.0-liter GTDI V-6, although this one is only available as an option for Reserve models.
The Lincoln Continental is already luxurious, but the Reserve is the highest and best that the model can offer. Look at the seats alone--a 24-way power leather seat with a thigh extender, which means that every ride can be the most comfortable possible. The Reserve also offers an array of other options, including SYNC3, a hands-free power trunk, front and rear park assist, an advanced electronic door handle, keyless entry keypad, and a rear view camera. It's an impressive version of an already impressive model.
With its fantastic levels of standard and available features, outstanding quality and luxury, and pricing that's particularly attractive when compared to the vast majority of its overseas competitors, the 2017 Lincoln Continental is a car that more than lives up to the illustrious name.
