2017 Lincoln MKT
The Lincoln MKT is a full-size luxury crossover that sits between the mighty Navigator and the midsize Lincoln MKX. What does the MKT have to offer today's luxury crossover buyer? Let's take a look.
As the crossover SUV becomes more and more popular, many manufacturers are making their designs more vanilla and the same, whether they intend to or not. However, a few manufacturers prefer to strike out on their own with original designs, and that's true of Lincoln and its 2017 MKT in particular. From some angles, the MKT is an SUV with heavy presence, but from others it looks more like a slightly tall but large luxury wagon. The front fascia is classic Lincoln, and those who want something that stands out will surely appreciate Lincoln's work here.
When it really comes down to it, interiors are what separate a luxury vehicle from a well-appointed mass-market model, and there's no doubting the luxury credentials of the MKT interior. The Lincoln can be optioned with either two captain's chairs or a bench for the second row, which means six or seven seat capability, respectively. All the seats seem comfortable enough to just about live in, never mind sit in for long journeys. You can have all the modern features and gadgets you could wish for in the MKT, but good old-fashioned comfort and luxury are the key attributes of this superb cabin.
Although at first glance the two available powerplants for the Lincoln MKT might look very similar, they're quite different in their own ways. The base engine is a naturally aspirated 3.7-liter V-6 that's front-wheel drive only, and develops 303 horsepower through a six-speed automatic transmission. The alternative is a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6, which puts out 365 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. The standard engine is strong and smooth, but the twin-turbo takes those highly desirable attributes and improves on them. Although the styling does nothing to give it away, there's even a slightly sporty feel to the MKT, especially when equipped with the twin-turbo.
You'll only find two trim levels of the Lincoln MKT: the MKT and the MKT with GTDI, obviously distinguished by their specific engines. It's no surprise then that both are sumptuously well equipped, and there's nothing that jumps out as a glaring omission even with the base MKT. You'll get what you're looking for from this impressive luxury model.
MKT Features and Equipment
Luxury buyers expect top-of-the-line features, and the 2017 Lincoln MKT delivers. Regardless of the trim you choose, you'll get what you're looking for, from the 8-inch touchscreen to the 10-speaker audio system to the heated and cooled 12-way adjustable power front seats. On top of those features, you'll also enjoy luxury options like the panoramic sunroof, ambient interior lighting, and a power liftgate--and if that's not enough, additional packages can be added to your customized MKT.
The styling of the 2017 Lincoln MKT could be seen as at least a little polarizing, but few full-size SUVs can be described as pretty. These vehicles are meant to make a statement while carrying out family or executive shuttle duties in style and comfort, and that's what you get with the MKT. The Lincoln MKT is designed for a discerning audience, and that audience and plenty of others will greatly appreciate it.
