2017 Lincoln MKZ
The 2017 Lincoln MKZ is a midsize luxury sedan that was originally sold as the Zephyr in 2005, but was renamed as the Lincoln MKZ from the 2007 model year onwards. After a complete redesign for the onset of the second-generation in 2013, it's now time for it to benefit from a mid-cycle refresh for 2017 to keep it current for the next few years
The 2017 Lincoln MKZ embraces the imposing attitude of a true luxury vehicle. The exterior styling has hints of its brother the Focus and a Jaguar as well, creating a hybrid style that feels and looks both accessible and imposing. Lincoln's familiar twin-wing grille has been discarded and replaced by a round, trapezoidal shaped mesh grille with Lincoln's signature four-pointed enclosed star set in the middle. The grille has now been flanked by a pair of slim, smart and modern LED headlamps that wrap a little inwards. At the rear, the Lincoln MKZ has a stylish look all its own.
The interior determines if a luxury car is really a luxury car, so it has to stand out. The cabin of the Lincoln MKZ does just that, embracing an attractive mix of coordinated trims and surfaces that can be customized to a buyer's liking. We love the options available with the Chalet, Thoroughbred, and Vineyard Lincoln Black Label themes.
Straight line speed and white-knuckle performance are not essential attributes of luxury sedans on the whole, but their engines do have to have plenty of power. Luxury drivers expect the ride and driving experience to be exceptionally smooth and refined. The Lincoln MKZ's standard engine is a 245 horsepower 2.0-liter inline-four that's as powerful a performer as some V-6 rivals. Beyond the entry level Premiere trim, a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 emerges, upping the power ante with a very impressive 350 horsepower. That power can increase to 400 horsepower with the all-wheel drive versions of the Lincoln MKZ. Every model comes standard with a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with paddle activation, while the Premiere, Select, and Reserve trims can feature either front or all-wheel drive form.
Even in the world of luxury sedans, fuel economy can still be important to buyers, especially those doing well above average miles every year. If that's you and you want to get the best fuel economy ratings from your Lincoln MKZ, you won't be disappointed. If you want to up the ante even more, a Hybrid version delivers even better gas mileage.
The Reserve is the Lincoln's answer to the most luxurious, top-of-the-line trim requirements across the brand--and nothing's different with the 2017 Lincoln MKZ Reserve. Interior refinement meets smart tech options meets impressive performance and safety features to create a version of the MKZ that will make you feel like you've stepped into a truly luxury brand. Wood trim, 10-way power heated and cooled seats, 11-speaker audio, push button shift, and an embedded modem are just some of the features of the Reserve.
The 2017 Lincoln MKZ is an unusually afforable luxury vehicle, coming in the mid $30K range. That's a lot of luxury car for the money in this segment of the market. You can of course get more prestigious badges, but that will also invariably mean paying a whole lot more money for no more car than you get with the Lincoln MKZ. For the performance and the styling, you won't find a better, more luxurious value than the MKZ.
