S - 2020 Ford Escape

The 2020 Ford Escape is a two-row crossover sports utility vehicle that can seat up to five. It provides 37.5 cubic feet of storage behind the second row and 65.4 with that back row folded down. The standard powertrain is a 181-horsepower 1.5-liter engine mated to an eight-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, but you can opt for all-wheel drive at any trim level. Seventeen-inch steel wheels are standard, and painted aluminum wheels are optional. The interior features cloth seating, carpeted flooring and a 60/40-split fold-down rear seat. A SYNC infotainment system is included, and standard driver assistance technologies include a blind-spot monitor and forward collision avoidance.

SE - 2020 Ford Escape in Napa

The SE is the up-level Escape and probably the trim the appeals to the average consumer. It builds on the base model with equipment many modern consumers expect. The basic SYNC package, for instance, is replaced with the more advanced SYNC 3 setup with an 8.0-inch touchscreen display and integration for Android and Apple devices. Adaptive cruise control with stop and go becomes optional at this trim level and remains optional until the Titanium, which features a more advanced version with lane centering. A 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat is included and a panoramic sunroof is optional.

SE Sport - 2020 Ford Escape in Napa CA

The 2020 Ford Escape may be the most intriguing of the new trims. The hybrid version of the Escape has been unavailable for a long time, and it finally makes its return. This hybrid powertrain is not based on the three-cylinder engine most Escape models have but rather a 200-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission. Seventeen-inch ebony black-painted aluminum wheels are standard, and 19-inch wheels are standard. A leather-wrapped steering wheel is also included. ActiveX seating material is available as is a voice-activated touchscreen with navigation.

SEL - 2020 Ford Escape in Napa CA

The SEL is the well-equipped Escape. Unlike the SE Sport, it features the three-cylinder engine, but it is loaded with technologies and amenities at a reduced cost. You could bring the SE Sport up to this level, but you’d have to add on the various optional packages and items. If you want a bit more power under the hood, another option is to choose the SEL but with the 2.0-liter engine upgrade. This engine makes 250 hp and 280 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to an eight-speed automatic and only available with all-wheel drive. With either engine, the SEL adds a hands-free liftgate, remote engine start, premium ActiveX sport seating and a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel with inline controls.
