Red 2020 Ford Transit on snow roadThe new 2020 Ford Transit Connect van enters a new stage of versatility with this model year. Designed with the evolving needs of businesses in mind, the Transit Connect is a practical solution for people who need the capacity of a commercial van in a slightly smaller package that can more easily navigate tight spaces with parking limitations. There are a number of features that make the Transit Connect an outstanding choice for your cargo-hauling needs.

Driver Assist Features

As anyone who has driven a larger commercial vehicle knows, the driving experience requires a lot more checkpoints and safety considerations than a traditional car. Blind spots, windows blocked by interior cargo, and tight urban driving conditions take the level of difficulty up several notches. On the 2020 Ford Transit Connect, thoughtful new driver-assist features provide a higher level of driver confidence.

Adaptive Cruise Control assists by auto-braking when the system senses that the car in front of yours has slowed its speed, accelerating again once the sensors indicate that it is safe to do so. Even for the most alert drivers, stressful driving conditions and unclear markings in challenging weather can see your car drifting from its lane.

Ford’s Lane Assist feature alerts the driver with a gentle vibration to the steering wheel to give a little nudge to correct for lane departures. The available Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) signals you in your outside mirror when it senses an obstruction in your blind spot, providing protection for the van and any accessory trailers you may be towing.

Driving Performance

All Transit Connect models are equipped with a standard 10-speed automatic transmission for smooth and seamless shifting. Ford provides some very strong choices for powertrain options, beginning with the standard 3.5L V-6 engine or the 3.5-liter EcoBoost option. A new direct-injected 2.0-liter EcoBlue bi-turbo diesel engine is also available. The EcoBoost and EcoBlue engines are equipped with Ford’s Auto Start-Stop technology which engages when the vehicle is at a stop to help reduce fuel consumption and harmful emissions.

Innovative Technology

Whether you are in the middle of the city or a bit further afield, rest assured that you will remain in near-constant communication with the Transit Connect’s suite of connectivity and technology offerings. The FordPass Connect package provides drivers and passengers with Wi-Fi access via a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot. The hot spot can host up to 10 devices at once, meaning that your entire team can keep in touch with customers and clients from the road.

FordPass also functions much like a benevolent older sibling, reporting via the app on your vehicle’s health and well-being. When it senses that a service visit is in order or your fuel tank is running low, it sends an alert to your phone to keep you on top of your vehicle performance.

In these modern times, the ability to modify and pivot is the key to success in business. The new Ford Transit Connect is the flexible and determined sidekick you need to ensure a job well done.
