Enjoy a Weekend Escape With the 2020 Ford Explorer

Power

Three different engines allow you to choose the kind of power you want for your fun. A 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine comes standard with rear-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic transmission. This engine option also offers a towing package that provides up to 5,300 pounds of towing capacity when properly equipped. 

For some extra kick, go with the available 3.0-liter EcoBoost V-6, which pumps out up to 365 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. With this engine equipped, you’ll be able to tow up to 5,600 pounds. Consider this strength if your ideal weekend escape includes adventure toys that need to be towed, like ATVs or a small boat.

The Explorer ST model pairs the EcoBoost V-6 with several performance features to provide a shocking 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. An available hybrid V-6 engine offers impressive fuel efficiency along with 5,000 pounds of towing capacity.

Capability

A new terrain management system with four-wheel drive lets you take on seven different driving modes for full adventure readiness. Choose between modes like snow/sand, trail, slippery, and more so the Explorer is always prepared for the road ahead. If you’re looking for a weekend escape on open roads, choose Sport mode for a more exhilarating ride. Features like side-wind stabilization, tow and trailer sway control, and hill descent control provide you with easier handling even as you take on the great outdoors.

Space

Whether you’re bringing friends, family, or loads of cargo along for your escape, you’ll need space. Thankfully, the 2020 Explorer has plenty, and it’s flexible. With all of the seats up, the Explorer can seat seven passengers very comfortably. Put all of the seats down and you’ll have up to 87.8 feet of cargo space to work with. The third row features a 50/50 spilt, so you can fold one side flat and still offer a seat on the other side.

Technology

Even as you want to get away from your busy life and work, it’s important to have connectivity when you need it. The 2020 Explorer offers easy smart phone integration, hands-free calling and messaging, and an available Wi-Fi hotspot. Turn everything off if you truly need a break, but have the comfort of knowing it’s available.
